Gilmore Girls: Ranking Rory’s Boyfriends

The last episode of the revival shows Emily working in a nautical museum, telling a group of horrified children how whales got hunted and killed in that time period. The nasty letter that Emily brings up in joint therapy which she believes Lorelai sent her, but which Lorelai vehemently denies. Lorelai throws an Asian-themed party for Rory because Rory’s upset. She and her boyfriend have been planning a trip to Asia and it has been cancelled. Lorelai wants to cheer her up so she turns their house into an Asian wonderland. She goes as Gogo from Kill Bill because she has a very similar skirt from her old high school uniform.

Luke has a custody battle over April after her mother moves them to New Mexico, and he asks Lorelai to write him a character reference. Luke ends up winning the right to see April during the holidays. Christopher finds what Lorelai wrote about Luke and is upset. Lorelai and Christopher accept that they are not right together and they divorce, though the divorce is never shown or mentioned subsequently. Lane and Zack have twins, and Sookie becomes pregnant again. She and Logan spend half the season in a long-distance relationship until he eventually moves back to New York.

They’re both highly intelligent and skilled writers; by the end of the series, they are both novelists. They even go through similar character arcs, as illustrated by this video. References are made several times to Lane’s father—or parents, plural—through the first season, in the context of him clearly being alive and present in Lane’s life. He is never seen for some reason, and eventually ceases to be mentioned.

It was advertised as a guest role, but Patterson said he treated the pilot as “a chemistry test” and he was promptly promoted to series regular. Nicole is with the law firm contracted by Taylor Doose when he rents the building next to Luke’s Diner, and Jess encourages Luke to ask her out, saying Nicole was obviously flirting. Luke later throws caution to the wind and asks Nicole out and the two date for a while. Luke, still interested in Lorelai, but unable to process it, goes away on a cruise with Nicole after a conversation about it with Lorelai. Luke eventually agrees to move in with Nicole and later realizes that she’s cheating on him, finalizing their relationship.

He showed up in Stars Hollow and tried to get back together with Lorelai, but Sookie prank-called him, saying he had a problem at home, so he went back home. Lorelai and Luke became official that night, so Jason must have realized he didn’t have a chance and moved on. Kirk seems to be on the same path, but is actually somewhat likable.

The wedding date is postponed until Lorelai reunites with Rory. However, Lorelai senses hesitation in Luke when she begins planning the wedding. April Nardini, Luke’s secret source of hesitation, is a daughter that Luke unknowingly conceived in a previous relationship with Anna Nardini. Lorelai discovers that Luke has been hiding knowledge of April’s existence , and they eventually postpone the wedding again in order for Luke to be able to concentrate on building a relationship with his daughter. The Oscar-nominated actress married Ben Falcone in 2005 and the dynamic duo went on to work together on a number of projects, including Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, Spy and Can You Ever Forgive Me?

She treats him as if he’s her second child and when he gets sick, she cries to Luke about being a poor mother, clearly referencing the strain in her and Rory’s relationship. Rory and Jess are friends for a little while before they begin dating. The actor did a recurring role on Dawson’s Creek and starred in “One Tree Hill”, both were filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. When Richard is under a lot of stress at work and close to being “phased out”, he and Emily argue a lot, even in front of Lorelai and Rory.

Near the end of their episodes together, Jess stops by Luke and Lorelai’s house. He sees Rory in the window and stares wistfully at her, but it seems that his feelings for her are one-sided. A Year in the Life doesn’t allude to any recent romantic encounter between Jess and Rory. She constantly forgets about him and the reminders she leaves herself to break up with him.

He has lived in Stars Hollow his entire life, and his dad’s hardware store (William’s Hardware, in the middle of town) became his diner after his dad passed away. While his father was heavily involved in town events, Luke has resisted all of them, including most Town Meetings and the War Re-enactments. Though Luke expresses animosity towards town events, it is evident that he cares for the town and never has huge ambitions to leave. When Richard Gilmore attempts to have Luke open up a whole chain of Luke’s Diners, Luke respectfully declines as he has no interest in becoming a business magnate.

At the end of the “Fall” episode Emily agrees to finance Lorelai’s expansion of the Dragonfly Inn on the condition that she, Luke and Rory visits her in Nantucket every summer for two weeks. He’s still on good terms with her and they share a drink in Stars Hollow while she assesses the state of her career. Find my matches He gives her the idea to write a memoir about Lorelai and herself. Later, it’s strongly implied from the last shot of him leaving the Gilmore house, that he’s still not over her. Lorelai’s eccentric new neighbor Dwight shows up in one episode of season three, then is never seen or heard from again.

There was speculation during the seventh season that it would be the show’s final year, as Graham and Bledel’s contracts were both coming to an end.
